CONDO London: hosting sans titre, Paris | Sadie Coles HQ
January means it’s time for Condo: an annual event in which many of London’s commercial galleries partner up with a space from another country, and show… something new. My coverage of these events has been pretty sporadic over the years. But this time, I found it behind a thick, offwhite curtain in the upper floor of Sadie Coles’ gallery on Kingly Street. A giant inflatable PVC ecstasy pill, conceived by Berlin-based artist Zuzanna Czebatul.
It’s on show in London thanks to Paris based sans titre. I guess the joke behind the artwork had to be pretty broad to make sense to all three galleries, in all three countries. But it’s a good one: the room buzzes thanks to an air-pressured tube being pumped into the pill, which is stamped with the word REVOLUTION on one side, RUSH on the other.

Inflatable art is pretty rare - I can only think of one occasion I’ve seen some in my years of writing this blog. But I like its potential for monumental scale, without the eyeroll-inducing capital-s Seriousness of most monumental art. Maybe Richard Serra should have got his pump out and tried it.
Czebatul’s inflatable is joyful and silly, huge but ephemeral, only a temporary guest. Blown up in January; deflated and packed up for Valentine’s. Worth experiencing while it’s there though.
CONDO London: hosting sans titre, Paris is at Sadie Coles HQ (London). 17 January - 14 February 2026
